Women of Worth (WOW)

Women of Worth is a vehicle of healing for women who have been or are at risk of being scarred by sexual abuse and domestic violence. The program was created to bring attention to the issue of sexual abuse and it encourages women to speak about their experiences in a way that promotes healing.

Lilada Gee is the founder of WOW and she has written and published a book titled "I can't live like this anymore" which details her own experience of survival.

The program uses a strength based model to assess women and families for services using assessment tools in a way that is informal. These strategies used are because service provision in this population really needs to be very personal, yet very focused.

WOW also uses a number of service models in its approach including workshops, rallies, one on one counseling, art therapy, one on one mentoring, classes, seminars. The program introduces the subject of sexual and domestic violence on a global level (many women have this issue), but emphasizing personal stories.

Part of the process will include Empower University a component that will house women and children while providing intense education and support.
