This program intensifies our scholastic enrichment efforts to give elementary age children an academic foundation to build upon for future success. An after-school and summer learning and enrichment program, ACE serves children in grades K-5, most of whom are African-American or biracial.
Using holistic methods our team fosters a sense of self-worth, confidence, positive racial and cultural identity, and high behavioral and academic standards in a Christian, culturally relevant context. The ACE principle is that every child, uniquely created and loved by God, is of great value and has his or her own special gifts waiting to be discovered.
A disproportionately high number of students of color in the Madison Metropolitan School District struggle with school and have low level of academic achievement. Because of this, our program offers after-school academic support , and extra services that empower them to succeed in school; and in life.
Ace has math and reading mentors to help students with home work, the University of Wisconsin -Madison provides interns and volunteers for us each semester to offer the children a strong academic base, and area churches partner with us to develop relationship with the children and model positive behavioral, and interpersonal skills. |
